Teams compete at Eastern Synchronized Skating Championships
Skating to Billy Joel’s Movin’Out, Team Excel’s Collegiate team, coached by Merita Mullen, and representing The Skating Club of Boston has qualified for a spot to compete at the U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships. The team qualified during the U.S. Figure Skating Eastern Synchronized Skating Sectional Championships held in Hershey, PA this past weekend.
The US Synchronized Skating Championships will take place from March 1st – 3rd, 2012 in Worcester, Massachusetts at the DCU Center and is hosted by Team Excel and The Skating Club of Boston and sanctioned by U.S. Figure Skating. The nationwide competition showcases the top synchronized skating teams from the Eastern, Midwest and Pacific Coast sections.
“We are extremely proud of all six teams that competed this weekend at Eastern Sectionals,” stated David Wolfe, President of Team Excel. In addition to the Collegiate team’s placement, Team Excel’s Open Collegiate earned a fourth-place medal in their division and the Excel Crystals, coached by Mandy Curtin, Kelly Richall, and Johanna Jackson, advanced to the Championship Round, finishing in fifth place in the Preliminary division for the East Coast.
